Netflix has stopped producing its original shows and movies amid the coronavirus pandemic. Production has been discontinued in the US and Canada for two weeks due to government restrictions.
The streaming giant said the break was “due to government restrictions and security/health measures.” The series, including Stranger Things, The Witcher and Ryan Murphy’s movie The Prom, are all affected by the break.
Netflix is not the only production company that has suspended work. Disney has taken similar measures and announced that it will be stopping for a “short time.”
“Although there were no confirmed cases of COVID-19 in our productions, after considering the current environment and the best interests of our staff, we decided to discontinue production for part of our film productions for a short time. “.
Disney adds that it will “continue to evaluate the situation and restart work as soon as possible.”
Warner Bros. also announced that it is suspending production on more than 70 of its shows.
