The Uzbek authorities announced on Sunday the first case of illness with Covid-19. It’s about a man who recently returned from France. The government has taken several preventive measures.
The Ministry of Health of Uzbekistan, the country of central Asia with 34 million inhabitants, made the announcement.
The government said on the same day that it would close its educational units for three weeks, starting on Monday and that it would cancel all public events.
The state airline announced on Sunday that it is suspending all flights to several cities in Western Europe, Asia, and the Middle East by the end of April.
The Tashkent government has banned entry into the country by road and said it will soon suspend international trains.
Globally, since the outbreak of the Covid-19 pandemic, more than 150,000 cases of infection have been registered and more than half of the patients have been cured.
