The news of the death of Princess Maria Teresa of Spain was made public by her brother, Prince Sixtus Henry. A member of the Bourbon-Parma Royal Family, the princess died on Friday.
Princess Maria Teresa died out while Spain confirmed in a single day a record number of deaths due to COVID-19, the infectious disease caused by the new coronavirus.
The Spanish army has been given increased powers to transport the bodies after the mortuary houses can no longer cope.
The death toll due to the new coronavirus reached 5,690 in Spain. 832 of them were confirmed only on Saturday.
