President Klaus Iohannis announced on Tuesday that new traffic restrictions will be introduced, and what has been a recommendation will become an obligation. The head of state said that the Army will also be used to better manage the situations arising on the ground. The restrictions will come into effect from Wednesday.
“I discussed the additional measures that are required and can tell you. that we have agreed that further measures are needed to slow the spread of the virus. New traffic restrictions will be introduced. What has hitherto been a recommendation becomes an obligation. People can go out to go to work and make the necessary purchases, but these restrictions become obligations ”, the president said after the session of evaluation and presentation of measures regarding the management of the COVID-19 epidemic in which they participated first- the Minister of Romania Ludovic Orban, the Minister of Internal Affairs, Marcel Vela, the Minister of Health, Victor Costache and the Minister of National Defense, Nicolae Ciuca.
Iohannis announced that electronic surveillance measures will be prepared for quarantine and isolation, as these measures must be fully respected.
“We have decided to use the Army to better manage the situations arising on the ground and which will send personnel to supplement the police, gendarmerie and local police,” the president added.
He stated that the most vulnerable people are those over 65, for whom special restrictions will be introduced because they will have to stay at home at all times, in their interest.
“These restrictions that we mentioned will be processed today and will take effect from tomorrow,” said Klaus Iohannis.
