Left-back midfielder Pione Sisto was fined by Celta Vigo for 60,000 euros for failing to comply with isolation measures and leaving Spain.
On March 27, while the population was in isolation due to the coronavirus pandemic, Sisto drove to his home country, Denmark, without the consent of the Galician group.
The 25-year-old Ugandan-born player returned to Vigo but did not take part in the first week of individual training by Celta footballers.
Sisto refused to participate in the first test session for Sars-CoV-2, along with his teammates. The Dane later agreed to be tested for the new coronavirus.
“He is a player I would have liked to coach here, like everyone else, but at the moment it is not possible,” Celta head coach Oscar Garcia explained on Thursday.
President Carlos Mourino said Sisto has “a problem” and is not working with the club to solve it.
