Pilot Mick Schumacher, the son of seven-time Formula 1 World Champion Michael Schumacher, got his first Formula 2 victory on Sunday at the Hungaroring circuit in Budapest.
Schumacher, 20 years old, won the second race this weekend, the one for which the starting grid positions are reversed in relation to the previous day’s results. Thus, the eighth place in the first race allowed him to start from pole position.
He resisted the assault of the Japanese Nobuharu Matsushita, and then led 28 laps on a circuit considered very difficult to overcome.
Mick Schumacher, 20, won the European Formula 3 last year.
On December 29, 2013, former Formula 1 driver Michael Schumacher was the victim of a ski accident at the French resort of Meribel. He was transferred to a hospital in Grenoble after suffering severe head trauma and cerebral hemorrhage.
Until June 16, 2014, Schumacher was in a coma. After leaving the coma, he was transferred on June 18, 2014, to a specialized medical unit in Lausanne, and on September 9, 2014, he was discharged and moved to his home in the Swiss town of Gland.
