Greece, in general isolation in the fight Covid-19

Greece goes into general isolation on Monday in an attempt to stem the spread of the new coronavirus, Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis announced.

The isolation entered into force Monday, at 6.00 local time.

Few trips are authorized, in the context in which 94 new cases were confirmed on Sunday, the most important balance recorded in a single day, and the balance of the epidemic increased to 624 cases.

“I have ordered that any appropriate action be taken to enforce the prohibition of any unnecessary movement in the country,” the head of the Greek Government announced in a televised message addressed to the nation on Sunday.

Also on Sunday, there were two deaths, and the balance in the country rose to 15 dead.

“This may be the last measure, the one that must be taken quickly and not for nothing,” Kyriakos Mitsotakis said in the speech.

“We must protect our common good, our health,” he justified the isolation measures.

Only trips to work, food purchases, medicines and doctor visits are authorized from Monday.

Athens has since March 10 imposed gradual measures in the fight against the new coronavirus, closing schools, restaurants, cinemas, bars and nightclubs, gyms and shopping centers.

Public gatherings of more than ten people are forbidden, and hotels across the country have been forced to close by April 30.

Almost one billion people are isolated or partially isolated in the world in the fight against the virus.
