Eight people diagnosed with Covid-19 have died in Romania

It is about a 70-year-old man with grade II obesity, who returned from Italy on March 7 and was admitted to the Clinical Hospital of Infectious Diseases in Craiova on March 19.

“To date, March 24, in Romania, 762 cases of people infected with COVID – 19 (coronavirus) have been confirmed. Of the 762 positively confirmed persons, 79 were declared cured and discharged (53 in Timisoara, 19 in Bucharest, 3 in Craiova, 2 in Constanta, one in Cluj and one in Iasi). At ATI, at this moment, 16 patients are admitted, of which 6 are in serious condition. The health of the other patients is good, stationary.

In the territory of Romania, in the institutionalized quarantine, there are 5,515 persons for whom checks are carried out to detect if they have contacted the virus COVID – 19 (coronavirus). Another 83,970 people are in solitary confinement at home and under medical supervision.

To date, 12,624 tests have been processed at the national level, of which 461 in private medical units.

During the last 24 hours, 1,473 calls were registered to the unique emergency number 112 and 8,171 to the TELVERDE line (0800 800 358), open especially for informing citizens.

So far, through the authorized structures of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, 154 criminal files have been drawn up, under the aspect of committing the crime of denial of disease control, a fact stipulated and punished by art. 352 para. 1 Criminal Code. At the same time, the Police and the Gendarmerie applied 903 contraventional sanctions for non-observance of the isolation/quarantine measures.

Also, on the occasion of the formalities of entering the country, the Border Police prepared 4 criminal files, in which 18 persons are investigated, in the aspect of committing the crime of falsification in declarations, a fact stipulated and punished by art. 326 Penal Code.

Regarding the situation of the Romanian citizens in other states, according to the information obtained by the diplomatic missions and consular offices of Romania abroad, so far, 48 Romanian citizens have been confirmed as infected with COVID-19 (coronavirus): 36 in Italy, 4 in Spain, 2 in Namibia, 2 in Indonesia and one in Tunisia, Ireland, Luxembourg and France. Since the beginning of the epidemic of COVID-19 (coronavirus) and up to this moment, 8 Romanian citizens abroad, 7 in Italy and one in France have died.

The patient was hospitalized on 19.03.2020 at SCBI Craiova with respiratory insufficiency, being hospitalized in the ATI section of the hospital.

He suffered from pre-existing diseases for which he was being treated with insulin. The patient also had grade II obesity
