The United States recorded 1,568 deaths from coronavirus in 24 hours, bringing the total to 78,746, according to a Johns Hopkins University report.
According to the University of Baltimore, 1,309,164 cases were found in the country most affected by the pandemic.
New York State Governor Andrew Cuomo reported on Twitter on Saturday the death of “three young New Yorkers”, at an unspecified date, from an inflammatory disease with symptoms similar to Kawasaki disease, probably related to Covid-19. “Although rare, we ask parents to be vigilant,” he wrote.
According to US media, two public health officials were quarantined after coming into contact with infected people: Robert Redfield, director of the Center for Infectious Disease Prevention (CDC), and Anthony Fauci, the epidemiologist who advises the White House.
