At least 1,000,036 cases of infection, including 51,718 deaths, have been recorded in 188 countries and territories, especially in the United States (234,462 cases, of which 5,607 deaths), where the pandemic is the fastest, in Italy (115,242 cases), the most severely affected country, with 13,915 deaths, in Spain (110,238 cases, of which 10,003 dead) and in China (81,589 cases, of which 3,318 dead), the epicenter of the pandemic. However, the number of cases diagnosed reflects only part of the actual number of infections because many countries only test serious cases. The coronavirus pandemic has killed at least 50,000 people worldwide, of whom nearly three quarters in Europe, since its emergence in December in China.
In total, there were 51,364 deaths, of which 37,709 in Europe, the most affected continent of COVID-19. With 13,915 deaths, Italy is the country with the most deaths in the world, followed by Spain (10,003), France (5,387) and the United States (5,316). Since the outbreak of the pandemic, 989,281 cases have been officially declared worldwide, of which more than half in Europe (542,077), 235,900 in the United States and Canada (5,427 deaths in both states) and 112,061 in Asia (3,998 deaths ). However, the number of diagnosed cases reflects only part of the actual number of infections because many countries now only test those cases that require hospital care.
